Charlotte Hope is the founder of Hope Wildlife Consulting. She has over 35 years of experience in monitoring, managing, and recovering protected species through her position as a wildlife biologist for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SC DNR).
Charlotte has been monitoring South Carolina’s bald eagle population since 1985 and has worked extensively on the recovery of the loggerhead sea turtle throughout her career. She has spent hundreds of hours doing aerial surveys of eagles from fixed-wing planes and 6,000 hours of bald eagle observation from the ground.
Charlotte has also worked with the Coast Guard, utility companies, and cell phone carriers to help them maintain their equipment while protecting ospreys during their nesting season. Charlotte has helped landowners use their land while following the Endangered Species Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Act, and Migratory Bird Treaty Act regulations.
Outside of her work with raptors, Charlotte has experience with American alligators, marine mammals, wood storks, gopher tortoises, and wading, shore, and sea birds.
